- People, especially the youth of Karaj,
northwest of Tehran are pouring into the streets again on Wednesday, August 1st to
demonstrate. The protesters are chanting 'death to the dictator' and 'Guns
Tanks, fireworks, the mullahs must get lost.' The protest is ongoing as this
report is being prepared.
9:00 PM
CET:
According to local reports, protesters in Karaj set fire
on a police vehicle while confronting the repressive forces of the Iranian
regime. Security forces fired bird shots but failed to disperse the protesters.
The protests of Karaj have
continued well into the night despite the heavy
security presence.
7:00 PM CET: Anti-regime
demonstrations erupted in Gohardasht, Karaj, 50 kilometers west of Tehran, for
the second consecutive day. Protesters chanted slogans against the entirety of
the Iranian regime, including “death to dictator,” “Mullahs must get lost” and
“Rise Iranians and show your pride.” Like many other cities in Iran, the
protesters have taken to the streets out of frustration from economic woes, the
plunging value of the national currency and the widespread corruption of the
ruling regime.
Among the
slogans the protesters chanted was “our money has been spend on the bassijis.”
Bassij is the name of the Iranian regime’s paramilitary forces that suppress
dissidents and meddle in the people’s lives. Demonstrators are also calling out
the regime for its mismanagement of the country’s economy, which has resulted
in high inflation rates and unemployment.
The
regime dispatch anti-riot police forces to disperse protesters and regain
control of the streets. But protesters in Karaj confronted the police and
clashes ensued. According to local report and video obtained from the scene,
protesters set fire on a motorcycle belonging to security forces.
Protests
in Karaj are happening at the same time with similar demonstrations in Shapur,
Isfahan, where large numbers of people demonstrated earlier today and clashedwith security forces.
These
demonstrations started on Tuesday with people protesting against the high cost
of living and skyrocketing prices, but it quickly turned into an anti-regime
demonstration.
The
protests are continuing well into the night and more crowd are accumulating at
the famous Gohardasht Sq. chanting 'high cost of living, inflation are the
calamity for people', and "we can't tolerate this miserable life" and
"death to the dictator", "the people live like beggars, but the
elite mullahs live like Gods.
The also
chanted "Guns, Tanks, and fireworks, mullahs must get lost," a slogan
nowadays so famous with the people since it has a rhyme in Farsi language. Also
the shout of 'reformists, fundamentalist, the game is over for all of you,' is
often heard.
Other slogans are:
Don't be afraid, we are all together
Our enemy is here, they lie saying it is the USA
Today is the day of mourning because our money is in the
mullahs pockets
Iranian
Resistance's president-elect, Maryam Rajavi saluted the brave people and the
youth of Karaj, Isfahan, Shiraz and other cities who have risen up against the
ruling tyranny in Iran. Mrs. Rajavi said the main reason for all these dark
days of the nation of Iran is the despotic religious tyranny ruling Iran. This
regime has destroyed the life and the livelihood of the whole nation, but now the
world can see despite of harsh repressive measures by the ruling dictatorship,
the nationwide uprising in Iran is spreading to all corners of Iran and is
flaring up.
